Chemainus celebrates!
The latest Emily Carr Arts Sculpture and Carving unveiled late 2010 will be topped with “The Skidegate” Eagle. This Eagle used to be on a peace pole at Skidegate and was painted by Emily Carr. The eagle which once crested the pole has since fallen. Its memory is preserved in a 1929 watercolour, depicting the capital eagle hovering against a geometric sky.
The Skidegate band will be in attendance during the 11 AM Saturday April 23 reveal and they will be represented by Councilor James Cowpar.
